Workshop issue
We have all read some flattering and unflattering articles about the company we work for in the news, or maybe you read an article that listed inaccurate features in a release of an open source technology you contribute to. How did the journalists writing these articles gain this information and what drove them to write about it? In this session, we will discuss the journey an article goes through, from how the PR team works with different departments internally to brainstorm and develop a pitch idea, reaching out to a journalist with that idea and securing their interest, conducting interviews, and the publishing process of the article. Examples will include recently published GitLab articles and anecdotes from working on the Kubernetes release team. Attendees will also learn tips and tricks for speaking to media as a spokesperson, and how to work with GitLab's PR team.
- Intended Audience: GitLab team members who want to learn how to work with the GitLab PR team, how company news articles are created and tips and tricks for speaking to media.
